Ei Group Pub of the Year:

Ei Group Pub of the Year

The Lion Hotel in Treorchy was named as Ei Group Pub of the Year thanks to publican, Adrian Emmett’s sheer passion and commitment for not only his pub but for his community.

From the beginning, Adrian has remained completely dedicated to his pub and transformed the site from what was a boarded up, unused pub to a bustling hub of the village. Adrian is passionate about giving back to the community that has given so much to him and has not only met, but exceeded his communities expectations.

The Lion Hotel really does provide something for everyone. Adrian hosts a number of events from Baby Showers to Beer Festivals and accommodates many local groups who hold monthly meetings in the pub. Adrian also works closely with 39 primary schools and five comprehensive schools to promote the Lion Attendance Challenge. The challenge rewards pupils each term with a ‘Golden Ticket’ for excellence in attendance which can be exchanged for prizes at the pub.

The Lion Hotel is also famous for its sporting events and Adrian and his team deliver a stadium experience in a local town. Their sport offering is very family friendly and is one of the only venues in the area where the whole family can enjoy sport, catering for every member of the family! The Lion is home to 15 sports teams, including four pool teams, three darts teams, five football teams, two cricket teams, and a tennis club.

Adrian’s success is a result of his ongoing hard work and his commitment to ensuring the Lion Hotel is the go to venue across the Rhonnda Valley. From day one, Adrian has gone above and beyond the call of duty to provide a welcoming place for everyone across the community to visit, relax and make the most of what the Lion has to offer.

The Ei Group Pub of the Year was chosen from the winners of each individual category.

This award recognised the best of the best, a great all rounder and someone who shows sheer passion for their pub as well as the industry.
